Remove Your Computer Is Infected
All of us have probably been in the same situation. You are minding your own business when boom, you suddenly get a pop up saying “your computer is infected”. You may notice computer settings like the desktop background have changed or your browser home page is different. You have been infected with what is called “scareware”. The intention is to scare you into buying their software which will supposedly remove the threat. But these programs do not help in removing the viruses or the spyware. Instead, they infect your computer worse while attempting to scam you out of money and steal your confidential information.
Attempting to remove the “your computer is infected!” message can be complicated. These days viruses and spyware are very stealthy and removing them can be very difficult. In the past, you were allowed to use the Add/Remove option in the control panel or the system restore function. But unfortunately these do not work anymore.
Symptoms Of Infection
- Your computer is acting slow. This virus will slow down your system significantly. This includes starting up, shutting down, playing games, and surfing the web.
- You are getting pestered with pop ups. The virus infects your registry and uses it to launch annoying pop up ads out of nowhere.
- Searches are redirected or your homepage and desktop are settings are changed. This is a symptom of a very serious infection.
Dangers Of Infection
Viruses like this one infect your registry and other important system files. If the infection is not treated it can cause a complete collapse of your system.

Some strains of the infections contain spyware and keyloggers which can be used to record sensitive data like passwords, credit card, bank account, and social security numbers. The longer you allow the infection to fester, the greater the chance of identity fraud.
