What is SPYWARE or ADWARE?

Spyware and adware are software programs that are made with the intention of allowing individuals and companies to spy on your web browsing activities. These programs literally invade your privacy, slow down your system and annoy you with constant popups.

What Does Spyware Do to My Computer?

 Spyware and adware can intercept every single piece of information that you enter on the internet.  This includes sensitive information like phone, credit card, and social security numbers.  Unauthorized websites place themselves on your desktop and in your Internet Favorites.  Unwanted toolbars and searchbars attach themselves to your browser without your knowledge. Your default homepage and settings can be hijacked and and can prevent you from  changing  them back.  Spyware actually completely destroyed the registry system in one of my old computers.  My hard drive was cooked and I lost HUNDREDS of gigabytes of music, multimedia, documents, and other files.

How Do I get rid of it?

Can I stop Spyware from getting on my computer?

 There may be no surefire 100% way to prevent any spyware from getting on your computer.  But several of the products I reviewed have special features which will safeguard you from future attacks.  Here are some other preventive steps you can take

• Install a firewall and always have it running
• Do not install software from a source you cannot identify or trust
• Use a secure browser, I recommend FireFox (www.firefox.com)
